Wescott, Clayton Ross (5 June 1920 - 9 April 2005)

Clayton Ross Wescott, 84, of Spencer died April 9, 2005, at the Colonial Center in Colby.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity. The Rev. Robert Bipes and the Rev. Tim Duesenberg will officiate. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Jason Wescott, Ross, Matt and Tom Kyle, and Randy and Steve Kaiser.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Community Funeral Home in Spencer and again an hour before the services at the church on Tuesday.

Clayton was born on June 5, 1920, to Ross Wescott and Ellen Wicks. He served in the Army during World War II. He married Lorraine Duvall on Nov. 25, 1947, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity. They farmed for a short time in the Rockford, Ill., area. They moved back to the Spencer area in 1951 and farmed until Clayton's retirement in 1984. He worked as a mechanic for 16 years while farming and after retirement he became interested in woodworking and built many pieces of furniture for family and friends. He served on Trinity Lutheran Church Council and as treasurer for many years.

He is survived by a son, David Wescott of Marshfield; a daughter, Dawn (Robert) Kyle of Anoka, Minn.; two step-daughters, Janet (Jack) Kaiser of Auburndale and Janis Tapp of Machesney Park, Ill.; four grandsons; 10 step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Beverly (Leo) Fisher of Chippewa Falls.

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorraine, on Dec. 3, 1987; two brothers, Lyle and Clarence (Pat); and one stepson, Gerald Seefeldt.
